Tom came out of his house carrying a brush and a
big pot of white paint. He looked at the fence which was
three metres high and thirty metres long. He put his brush
in the paint, before he painted some of the fence. He
repeated it. Then he stopped to look at the fence, put
down his brush and sat down. There were hours of work
in front of him and he was the saddest boy in the village.

boyayla evden disari çikti. Üç metre yüksekliginde ve
otuz metre uzunlugundaki çite bakti. Çitin bir kismini
boyamadan önce firçasini boyanin içine batirdi. Daha
sonra çite bakmak için durdu, firçasini yere koydu ve
oturdu. Saatlerce çalismasi gerekiyordu ve o kasabadaki
en üzgün çocuktu.
